City Council Executive Session
May 2, 2005
The Mt. Vernon City Council held an Executive Session on Monday, May 2, 2005, at 8:00 p.m. in the Park Office at Veterans Park.
Those in attendance were: Council Member Ricky D. Heck, Council Member John Howard, Council Member David E. Keen, Council Member Mike Walker, Mayor Milton R. Sees, City Manager Roy l. Payne, City Clerk Jackie Sharp and Corporation Counsel Bill Howard.
The purpose of this Executive Session was for discussion of personnel.
City Manager Roy l. Payne stated that discussion was needed regarding the salaries for department heads and assistants and other individuals not covered by the union contracts. Mr. Payne suggested a 4% increase and stated that in 2000 they received a 4%, in 2001 there was an $1,800.00 across the board, in 2002 an $1,800.00 across the board and in 2004 a 2% increase.
Mr. Payne stated that a salary ordinance needed to be done by the May 16, 2005 City Council Meeting.
Discussion was held regarding the Economic Development restructuring and how it could effect salaries.
City Manager Roy L. Payne left the meeting for Council to discuss the issue of salaries.
Mr. Payne returned and was given direction by Council. The amount of $25,500.00 was given to divide among the employees affected.
Council returned to Regular Session at 8:40 p.m.
