City Council Executive Session

The Mt. Vernon City Council met in Executive Session on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at 7:45 p.m.

 

The purpose of the Executive Session was for Discussion of Personnel and Pending Litigation.

 

Those present were: Council Member Ricky D. Heck, Council Member John Howard, Council Member David E. Keen, Council Member Mike Walker, Mayor Milton R. Sees, City Manager Roy L. Payne, City Attorney David R. Leggans, City Clerk Jackie Sharp and Human Resource Director Mary Jo Pemberton.

 

Human Resource Director Mary Jo Pemberton addressed Council regarding the Public Safety Employee Benefits Act (PSEBA) Effective November 14, 1997. Mrs. Pemberton stated that there are currently 5 employees that have filed PSEBA claims from the Fire Department. Mrs. Pemberton stated that there is a possibility of 4 other claims at this time, and anyone that gets a disability pension for a line-of-duty pension from the Fire Department can also be eligible for this benefit.

 

Discussion was held regarding the costs for this benefit.

 

Executive Session ended at 8:50 p.m. and Council returned to Regular Session.
