City Council Executive Session
October 16, 2006
The Mt. Vernon City Council met in an executive Session on Monday, October 16, 2006, following the Regular City Council Meeting.
The Executive Session began at 8:00 p.m. Present were: Mayor David E. Keen, Council Member Ricky D. Heck, Council Member Shirilyn Holt, Council Member John Howard, Council Member Mike Walker, City Clerk Jackie Sharp, Interim City Manager Merle Hollmann, City Attorney David R. Leggans, Human Resources Director Mary Jo Pemberton and EMC Director Randy Tucker.
The purpose of this Executive Session is for the Purchase of real property and pending litigation.
Discussion was held regarding the search for a City Manager. Human Resource Director Mary Jo Pemberton gave the Council Members a list of applicants so far and information regarding the applicants.
City Attorney David R. Leggans stated that he had received a fax from an attorney regarding a former employee that has filed an EEOC Claim against the City.
Discussion was held regarding an offer on a pending lawsuit.
Mrs. Pemberton left the meeting.
Mr. Randy Tucker of EMC spoke regarding the possible purchase of property for EMC to use. A property exchange was discussed.
Interim City Manager Merle Hollmann spoke regarding an issue with persons that owned Westmont Apartments in 2000 and an insurance claim that they had filed.
Discussion was held regarding the litigation involving Kroger and the entrance off Broadway and the Bonanza property.
Discussion regarding the Park property including the house was held.
The Sunset Property was discussed.
Executive Session ended at 9:30 p.m. and Council returned to open session.
