City Council Executive Session
February 4, 2008
The Mt. Vernon City Council held an Executive Session on Monday, February 4, 2008 at 7:48 p.m. in the office at Veterans Park.
The purpose of this Executive Session was regarding Purchase and Sale of Real Estate, Pending Litigation and Collective Bargaining.
Present at this meeting were: Council Member Mary Burgan, Council Member Mike Walker, Council Member David Wood, Mayor Mary Jane Chesley, City Clerk Jackie Sharp, City Manager Ron Neibert and Corporation Counsel Bill Howard. Absent: Council Member Shirilyn Holt.
City Manager Ron Neibert stated that the discussions with Dr. Hood regarding possible purchase of property near the sewer treatment plant, has come to a stand still. Mr. Neibert stated that he is asking for more money per acre now.
Discussion was held regarding selling the lots that the City owns from liens or demolitions.
Discussion was held regarding Collective Bargaining for the unions. Negotiations have begun on most of the unions. Mr. Neibert stated that he hopes to have the contracts settled by the end of the Fiscal Year.
Under Pending Litigation, discussion was held regarding two lawsuits and the status of these suits.
Pending litigation was discussed regarding a property dispute that should have already been settled. It was decided to send a letter to the people.
Council returned to open session at 8:35 p.m.
