Regular City Council Meeting
June 2, 2008
The Mt. Vernon City Council met in Regular Session on Monday, June 2, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Building at Veterans Park.
Mayor Mary Jane Chesley called the meeting to order. Ms. Tammy Meyer gave the invocation.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given.
Roll call showed present: Council Member Mary Burgan, Council Member Shirilyn Holt, Council Member Mike Walker, Council Member David Wood and Mayor Mary Jane Chesley.
The journals for the City Council Executive Sessions of October 3, 2005, January 17, 2006, August 7, 2006, October 2, 2006, October 16, 2006, November 20, 2006, January 2, 2007, January 10, 2007, February 20, 2007, March 19, 2007, April 16, 2007, June 4, 2007, September 4, 2007, October 15, 2007 and the May 19, 2008 Regular City Council Meeting were presented for any additions, corrections or deletions. Motion by Council Member Mike Walker to approve the journals as presented. Second by Council Member Shirilyn Holt. Yeas: Burgan, Holt, Walker, Wood and Chesley.
The Consolidated Vouchers for Accounts Payable for June 2008 in the amount of $ 508,117.75 were presented for Council’s consideration. Motion by Council Member David Wood to approve the Consolidated Vouchers for Accounts Payable for May 2008 in the amount of $ 508,117.75 as presented. Second by Council Member Mary Burgan. Yeas: Burgan, Holt, Walker, Wood and Chesley.
City Manager Ron Neibert presented for Preliminary and Final Plat for Macy Ruth Subdivision. Mr. Neibert asked if there was anyone present to represent this request. There was no one present. Mr. Neibert stated that this is part of the Kroger property that they want to subdivide for possible future development. The Planning Commission has had a review on this request. There were no objectors. Council Member Mike Walker asked if it is B2 zoning. Mr. Neibert stated that the zoning would remain the same. Mr. Neibert stated that he is not aware of the specific plans. Council moved to Table this item until the next council meeting.
