The City Clerk's Office is the doorway to the city. The City Clerk's Office provides information to citizens concerning city departments and city matters. The office is also the contact for residents regarding complaints.

The City Clerk signs checks, investment papers and tax papers for the city.

The City Clerk or a representative from the office must attend all City Council Meetings for the purpose of keeping minutes. Keeps the original files for the City Ordinances and Resolutions, deeds for all City property, bonds, contracts and insurance coverage. Issues all City license and permits. Prepares Commission documents and keeps listings for the City Boards and Commissions.

The City Clerk's Office is the keeper of the official City Seal. The City Clerks Office works with the employee regarding their health insurance; answering questions and checking claim status.

The Clerks Office also processes any liability insurance claims by speaking with the citizens and employees and sending the claim information to the insurance carrier.

The City Clerk is the authorized agent for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.

The City Clerks office completes several surveys annually such as the EEO-4 report, Municipal Yearbooks survey, Illinois Municipal League Surveys and others.

The City Clerks Office works with the City, State, and Federal Auditors, supplying them any information needed.

The office microfilms all City Ordinances, Resolutions, and minutes annually.

The Clerks Office works with the public regarding Zoning, Variances or Annexations of property.

The City Clerk serves on the Fire Pension Board.

The titles of all City vehicles are kept in the City Clerks safe to be processed if a vehicle is sold or traded.
