Councilwoman Holt was born and raised in Mt. Vernon by parents,
Maxine and Odie Farris. She has six siblings, three still residing
in Mt. Vernon as well as her mother.
She has been married to Cleo Holt for 35 years and they have one
son, Larry who is a senior at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Councilwoman Holt is a graduate of the Mt. Vernon Township High
School, Rend Lake College, and attended classes at S.I.U.
Carbondale. She worked at the local Continental Tire plant for 22
years before making a career change. She currently is Administrative
Assistant to the Superintendent at the Mt. Vernon Township High
School and Executive Secretary to the Board of Education.
Councilwoman Holt is a member of the Corinthian Missionary Baptist
Church where she serves as Trustee, Financial Secretary, Youth
Sunday School Teacher, Pianist, Choir Director, and Sisters in
Christ Mission Teacher.

· Bible Teacher of the
Women’s Mission & Education Auxiliary
Councilwoman Holt enjoys giving inspirational messages at speaking
engagements and working on her computer.
