The City will not enter private property to pick up any trees, tree limbs, brush or other landscape waste whether originating from city right-of-way or private property.
Storm Events
The public works department will pick up any tree limbs / brush that were brought down due to storm event provided that the material is placed out at the curb/street side within 2 weeks after a storm. This material could have originated from either public or private property.
Non-storm Events
Any tree limbs / trees / brush originating from private property (not caused by a storm event) shall be the responsibility of the homeowner to maintain/dispose of. This material can be picked up by the City trash service provided that it is either placed in the refuse container (provided by Midwest Waste) or placed in biodegradable paper bags. Note that the homeowner will probably need to downsize the material in order for this to be possible. Any material too large to be placed in the afformentioned containers will be the responsibility of the homeowner to dispose of, either by contacting a private landscape waste company or by transporting to a landscape waste disposal site. Note that the City does not currently provide a landscape waste site.
We appreciate your understanding as we implement this procedure throughout the City of Mt. Vernon.
