Code Enforcement
Code Enforcement Inspectors help keep Mt. Vernon safe, clean, and welcoming by making sure everyone follows the city’s ordinances (rules). Their work helps protect property values, encourages pride in our neighborhoods, and ensures a healthier, more attractive community for all.
What Do Code Enforcement Inspectors Do?

- Let property owners and residents know if there is a problem and how to fix it
- Track progress to make sure the issue is resolved
- Keep records of inspections and actions taken
- If problems are not corrected, issue fines, tickets, or take legal action

- Report it online
- Call (618)-242-6830
