Memorials in Our Parks

The City of Mt. Vernon offers a special way to honor loved ones or celebrate special moments through our Memorial Program. These lasting tributes help keep memories alive and also make our parks more beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

You can choose from benches, trees, tree charms, or engraved bricks at the Veterans Memorial. Every option is a meaningful way to remember someone and show your support for our community.

Ways to Honor Someone

Memorial Benches

Sponsoring a bench is a thoughtful way to remember someone or recognize your business. Benches are placed in Veterans Memorial Park or other city parks.

• $1,200 donation
• Includes a 4-foot custom bench with 1–2 lines of engraving
• Choose your bench location and message with help from our Parks Department

A memorial bench is a lasting way to share a message that park visitors will see for years to come.

Tree Charms and Memorial Trees

Honor someone special with a charm on an existing tree or by planting a new tree in their memory.

• Tree Charm - $125 donation
  • Small engraved charm placed on an existing tree
  • Available at Veterans Memorial Park or another city park

• Memorial Tree - $500 donation
  • A new tree is planted in honor of your loved one
  • A beautiful and living tribute that grows over time

Veterans Memorial

Located at the entrance of Veterans Memorial Park, the Veterans Memorial honors local men and women who have served our country. This meaningful space includes engraved bricks, lighting, and landscaping made possible through the dedication of community members and local businesses. The memorial was officially dedicated on December 7, 2022.

Memorial Bricks

Memorial bricks are placed at the Veterans Memorial. Each brick honors a veteran with their name and service.

To purchase a memorial brick:
