HOURS OF WORK:

  • Hours vary per day and week, Monday through Sunday. Requires evening work and/or weekend hours
  • Part-time seasonal position
  • FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK:

Under the administrative direction of the Pool Manager and the Recreation Coordinator performs the work related to the operation of clean and safe quality concession service; sells refreshments and food at the water park, assists guests with lockers, sells tickets at the front gate, responsible for cash drawer, and similar activities.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:

  • Meets and greets general public with a positive demeanor and attitude
  • Takes food and beverage orders
  • Totals and accepts payment for concessions
  • Informs the Recreation Coordinator of the demand and public’s tastes in food and beverages
  • Prepares food products such as popcorn, hot dogs, nachos, fountain drinks or other similar items
  • Inventories supplies on hand at the beginning and end of day or other designated period
  • Tabulates receipts
  • Restocks concession areas
  • Reports violations of the rules and ordinances of Park to the proper authorities
  • Checks that concession equipment is clean and in safe working order
  • Communicates openly and effectively with Recreation Coordinator, other City staff, participants, and general public
  • Keeps the areas used clean and orderly
  • Secures facilities
  • Other assigned and related duties to assure a successful concession service
  • Takes tickets at the gate
  • Takes orders, tabulates, enters ticket information into software
  • Assists other aquatic staff members as needed
  • Collects and submits daily receipts
  • Promotes use of pool facility
  • Securing recreational facilities
  • Keeps pool facility clean and orderly
  • Other assigned and related duties to assure a successful pool operation

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Skilled in understanding and responding to participants needs
  • Ability to discipline, lead, and interact with young children in a positive manner
  • Ability to courteously and effectively deal with the general public
  • Requires ability to organize duties and produce results in a timely manner.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Skilled in administering First Aid and CPR
  • Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations making proper judgments as to the correct course of action

EDUCATION:

  • Working knowledge of first aid procedures common in swimming pool operations
  • Ability to pass basic reading, writing, and mathematics exam

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age. 15 year olds must submit valid work permit.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds using proper body mechanics
  • Ability to keep focus attention on tasks, which may be routine, or repetitive, without losing concentration or becoming distracted by external activities
  • Ability to stand, sit, reach, grasp, lift/carry, walk, climb, kneel, squat/bend, and push/pull
  • Use written sources of information, e.g. read reports, procedural documentation, reference materials
  • Perform detailed work requiring visual acuity, e.g., repair electronic equipment

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:

  • Residency within the limits of Jefferson County is required of all City Employees.
