The City of Mt. Vernon partners with Republic Services to provide garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection for our residents. Use the maps and schedules below to find your pick-up days and stay up to date with holiday changes.

Holiday Schedule

There is no garbage collection on these holidays:

• New Year’s Day
• Memorial Day
• Independence Day (4th of July)
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Day

When a holiday falls on your regular collection day, your service will be delayed by one day.

Example: If your regular pick-up is Monday and Christmas Day falls on Monday, collection will occur on Tuesday that week.

Garbage Schedule

Garbage is collected Monday through Friday depending on your address. Each route is color-coded on the map below:

Monday = Yellow, Tuesday = Pink, Wednesday = Orange, Thursday = Green, Friday = Blue.

Recycling Schedule

Recycling is picked up every other week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, based on your address. Each area of the city is assigned a route shown on the map.

Yard Waste Schedule

Yard waste is picked up every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, based on your regular trash collection schedule.
