Solicitation Information

Door-to-door solicitors operating within the city must follow local regulations and carry a valid City-issued permit. Residents should never share utility account information with anyone claiming to represent the city.

  • Solicitors must carry a City-issued permit and show it upon request
  • “No Soliciting” signs must be respected
  • Soliciting is only allowed between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday
  • Soliciting is prohibited on Sundays and state holidays
  • Report violations or suspicious activity to the Mt. Vernon Police Department at 618-242-2727
  • The City cannot deny solicitation permits without legal cause, but resident complaints and ordinance violations may impact future permits
