The City of Mt. Vernon invests a significant amount of funding each year to maintain and repair miles of city roads. The Streets Division of the Public Works Department handles routine maintenance like small patches and pothole repairs. For bigger or more specialized projects, the city hires contractors.
Even though the city and its contractors work hard to keep roads safe and traffic flowing, traffic backups can still happen. Please plan ahead and consider using alternate routes when possible.
