Pool Manager

Job Type: Seasonal Part Time

Pay: Based on Experience, starting rate $16.25

Position Summary

Under the administrative direction of the Parks Director, performs the work related to all aspects of the operation of the clean and safe pool facility, supervision of aquatics staff, promotion and evaluation of aquatic programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining the pool water quality and pool maintenance
  • Supervision and training of aquatics staff
  • Establishes work schedules for aquatic staff
  • Assists in record keeping of daily operations and swimming lessons
  • Collects, reports, and submits daily receipts
  • Revises the operation manual for aquatic personnel
  • Enforces rules and ordinances
  • Prepare and submit the payroll of aquatic staff, biweekly
  • Prepares year-end aquatic staff evaluations
  • Promotes the use of the pool facility
  • Prepares, provides, and submits Illinois Department of Public Health reports
  • Makes decisions on the daily operations of the pool facility with the advice and consent of the Parks Director
  • Keeps the pool facility clean and orderly
  • Securing recreational facilities
  • Other assigned and related duties to assure a successful pool operation

Qualifications

Education

  • Working knowledge of current life guarding techniques and procedures related to the rescue of drowning swimmers
  • Working knowledge of first aid procedures common in swimming pool operations
  • Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certificates
  • Water Safety Instructor Certification, preferred
  • Ability to pass basic reading, writing, and mathematics exams

  •  Ability to discipline, lead, and interact with young children and staff in a positive manner
  • Ability to courteously and effectively deal with the general public
  • Requires the ability to organize duties and produce results in a timely manner.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations, making proper judgments as to the correct course of action
  • Supervisory skills

Work Schedule

  • Hours may vary per week, Monday through Sunday.
  • Requires some evening work and/or weekend hours
  • Part-time seasonal position

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds using proper body mechanics
  • Ability to stand, sit, reach, grasp, lift/carry, walk, climb, kneel, squat/bend, and push/pull
  • Use written sources of information, e.g., read reports, procedural documentation, reference materials
  • Perform detailed work requiring visual acuity, e.g., repair electronic equipment
  • Use non-verbal auditory sources of information, e.g., alarms.
