Relief Utility Operator

Executive Assistant

Under the administrative direction of the Mayor of Mt. Vernon and City Manager, this organized individual performs responsible and confidential multi-tasked administrative functions for the Mayor and City Manager; performs administrative tasks as directed and or needed; performs office support functions for the Mayor, City Manager and City Council; receives visitors and phone calls for the Mayor, City Manager and the City Council; has extensive knowledge of the organization's programs, policies and procedures and exercises independent judgment in explaining established policies and procedures to the general public; coordinates with the general public in the implementation of community projects authorized by Mayor and City Council.
Assistant Public Works Director

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK:
Under the general direction of the Director of Public Works and the City Manager, the position assigns and supervises the construction, repair, and maintenance of municipal streets, alleys, sidewalks, traffic signals, storm sewers, rights-of-way, and parks. The position also plans, directs, and evaluates the activities of the water distribution and sanitary sewer collection divisions; supervises construction and maintenance crews; analyzes operational needs; and makes recommendations for improvements. The position reviews and recommends revisions to municipal code provisions affecting the water, sewer, and streets divisions; assists in developing the annual budget; prepares and presents reports and recommendations to the Director of Public Works, City Manager, and City Council as required; responds to citizen complaints and inquiries; and maintains records of labor, materials, and equipment. Subject to administrative direction, the position performs professional engineering work related to the planning, design, and construction of public improvement projects. Responsibilities include reviewing site plans, subdivision plans, and stormwater management reports to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations; coordinating public improvement projects; and assisting in the preparation of related reports and recommendations.
Nuisance Code Enforcement Worker
Position Type: Seasonal, Full Time
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, 7 a.m. - 4 p.m., may require evening and weekends
Salary: $16.00 per hour

The position requires a valid Class D Driver’s License. Applicants must be able to pass basic reading, and math test. High School diploma or its equivalency is preferred. Candidates with the ability to mow with a Zero-turn Mower, use weed eater, and clean-up debris are required. Willing to have employees who can work partial days until end of school. After school ends, full time for summer. No benefits. Applicants are subject to background checks and medical assessments, including drug screen.
