Electrical Aggregation

The city of Mt. Vernon participates in an electric aggregation program to help lower electric rates for residents. Homefield Energy is the current electric supplier with a rate of $0.11789 per kWh.

Solicitations

From time to time, salespeople may go door-to-door in neighborhoods. Here’s what to keep in mind:

  • They are not associated with the City of Mt. Vernon.
  • Never share your account information with anyone saying they work for the city.
  • All solicitors must carry a City-issued permit and show it if asked.
  • Salespeople must respect "No Soliciting" signs. 
  • Hours are limited to 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
  • Soliciting is not allowed on Sundays or on state holidays.
  • If someone does not have a permit, is out after hours, or refuses to leave, call the Police Department at 618-242-2727.

The city cannot deny a permit without valid cause and written complaints from residents.
