Many small repairs don’t need a building permit, but bigger projects often do. Permits help keep your project safe and make sure it follows city rules. All permitted work must be inspected.
The first step is to fill out a building permit application. You can:
Make sure to check the different requirements for residential and commercial projects.
After you turn in your application:
The Engineering and Inspections Department, Planning and Zoning Committee, and City Council will review it.
If it is approved, a building permit will be issued.
You need a permit for many common projects, including:
Carports
Garages
Pools
Storage buildings
New houses
Porches and decks that are over 30 inches high or have a roof
Mobile homes
New commercial construction
