Many small repairs don’t need a building permit, but bigger projects often do. Permits help keep your project safe and make sure it follows city rules. All permitted work must be inspected.
How to Get a Permit
The first step is to fill out a building permit application. You can:
- Complete and submit it online
- Download the application and send it by email to brad.ruble@mtvernon.com
- Bring it in person to the Engineering and Inspections Office at City Hall

What Happens Next?
After you turn in your application:
